By A sold-out crowd on a cold and snowy night were treated to an offensive explosion by the Missouri Tigers, as Mizzou took down the Alabama Crimson Tide, 110-98, on Wednesday night.
Mizzou, ranked 15/16, depending on which poll you look at, jumped out to an early lead and led the entire way. The Tigers are 20-6 on the season, 9-4 in SEC play. Alabama drops to 21-5 on the season and 10-3 in SEC play.
The Tigers have now defeated three top-five teams on the season, marking the first time the school has done that since the 1988-89 season. Another feat for the Tigers was scoring 110 points, which was the most points scored by a Mizzou squad since Jan. 13, 1990, when the Tigers scored 111 on Nebraska.
Mark Mitchell, who scored a career-high of 25 just a week ago, beat that mark with 31 points on Wednesday night. Mitchell shot 11-of-14 from the field. Caleb Grill added a double-double, his first of the season, with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Some keys to the game included the Tigers grabbing 12 steals, resulting in 21 points. Mizzou also shot 60.3 percent from the floor. This marked the second time this season Missouri shot 60 percent.
The Tigers will travel to Arkansas on Saturday to face the Razorbacks at Bud Walton Arena. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
