Kings of Leon Cancels St. Louis Show After 3 Songs, Says “It’s The F**cking Venues Fault”

Yesterday, on Friday July 23, Kings of Leon came to St. Louis. The band is best known for their songs “Use Somebody” and “Sex Is On Fire.” Unfortunately for thousands of fans at their concert last night, not much of a show took place before the band stormed off the stage.

After only playing three songs, the RFT says that the band took off – followed by one of the staffers coming on stage saying “due to concerns over the band’s safety, we are canceling the show. Please file out in an orderly fashion.” After the controversy, the band’s drummer Nathan Followill Tweeted:

@doctorfollowill So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons shitting in jareds mouth. Too unsanitary to continue.

@doctorfollowill Don’t take it out on Jared, it’s the fucking venues fault. You may enjoy being shit on but we don’t. Sorry for all who traveled many miles.

So sorry that Verizon Wireless Amphitheater didn’t go and round up all of the birds in the sky before you played your show, Kings of Leon. I didn’t realize that was in your contract. Are there any other requests before you play your next show in Chicago tonight?

Tonight, July 24, Kings of Leon are playing a show at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Chi-Town. Keep your eyes to the sky!

  • I think it's shocking! Poor form from artists that so many youngsters aspire to be like...if they don't want these kinds of things to happen, why are they performing at these kinds of venues? How can it be the venue's fault? Rather, its THEIR fault for booking this kind of a venue...

  • They are offering refunds...but are they also going to refund the $11 dollar beers and $14 margs that everyone paid for?? Ridiculous.

  • I was there last night. It's not a bad venue at all. Have they never been outside before or something. I USED to be a KOL fan, but not after this copout.

  • UM yeah, i think i deserve not only my money back for the tickets but also the money back for the tshirt that I wont wear from a band that sucks! Um maybe try to do something about the bird before you cancle the show! Shit I beat cancer as a young child and theses shits cant perform for thousand OUTSIDE?????

  • Decided my 6 year old twins were old enough to go to thier 1st concert, and bought the tickets months ago. Kept it a secret until Friday. They love music and were so excited. They waited and listed to the opening bands (very good BTW) only to have their hearts broken by KOL. Nothing is as bad as your son and daughter both crying-- not because they were mad -- but because they were sad and hurt they did not get to see them play. Closest I am came to crying as a grown man seeing the absolute confusion as tears rolled down both of their faces. What a first concert.

  • Maby jared will learn not to keep his mouth open and look up unless he is used to getting loads dropped on his face. In all reality he could have cleaned off the shit and kept playing it would have left a better impression with fans in Stl but we are all getting a refund but maby we should get a free tshirt too. Pigeon shit does cause diseases though... damn pigeons

  • The venue is good enough for thousands of your fans to travel to and pay money to see the show, but not good enough for you to perform for them. I saw Depeche Mode (a much greater band than you'll ever be) in an open venue, in the heat of August in Houston, and they didn't seem to mind.
But your big girl panties on Kings of Leon and grow a pair.

  • Whatever happened to "the show must go on"? They should consider themselves lucky to be touring the country and having the opportunity to be up on stage getting shit on in the first place. What about all of the fans that got shit on by them for being pussies and not finishing the show? This Jared guy is one of the most pretentious assholes out there. I've hated this band ever since I read an interview with him where he was whining about how terrible success was. He talked about how he couldn't stand looking out in the audience and seeing people in the crowd standing around unresponsive until they played one of their hits. DOUCHE!!! Maybe he should take this bird incident as a sign from a higher power and get the fuck over himself already. I have a feeling this is going to be the nail in the coffing of their pathetic career.
