Concert Review and Photos: Pink wows at The Dome at America’s Center

P!nk brought her Summer Carnival tour to St. Louis this past Saturday night, an artist I have never had the pleasure of seeing perform live.

While I have heard so many great things, I truly had no idea how magical of an experience I was in for. The show was opened by The Script and Sheryl Crow, who respectively performed hits from their impressive musical catalogue. In fact, The Script actually has a new album dropping this week, titled “Satellites.” Sheryl Crow seemed to deliver hit after hit but seeing “Real Gone” performed live was quite a treat.

P!nk, famously known for her acrobatic and aerial stunt work while performing then sent a wave of shrieks through the Dome at America’s Center when she descended from an aerial fixture from above the stage, setting the tone with an opening medley of “Get The Party Started.” And, indeed, the party began.

The tour was perhaps one of the most high-energy and impressive sets I have ever had the pleasure of seeing performed live. I knew P!nk was an incredible live performer, but nothing could have prepared me for this. Performing fan-favorites from over two and half decades of music, the show was quite the visual and audible spectacle.

I was quite impressed with the performer’s back-up dancers, a collective of highly-talented contemporary performers, who assisted in P!nk’s aerial stunts and were each highlighted during solos and duos of insane performances while the artist performed or transitioned into the next set of songs.

The costume changes seem to be never-ending, including what the artist referred to as her “princess” dress descending from the ceiling and being perfectly placed on P!nk. The softer ensemble was a sweet transition into an acoustic set that showcased the artist’s powerhouse vocals.

The show seemed so unique yet so uniform at the same time. From getting treated to some candy from her piano player, in which P!nk stated was her favorite moment each show because it’s the only time she gets a treat without having to share with her kids, to interacting intimately with fans all over the stadium, it is a vast understatement to say that P!nk is one of the most genuine and humbled performers selling out venues today. She is also one of the most charismatic and charming individuals I have ever seen on a stage. I was so boggled as to why I have never had the opportunity to see her perform live, but can confidently say that this an artist that I will never miss when they return to town. The show seemed to finish nicely (and by nicely, I mean with an insane aerial stunt) that saw P!nk literally slingshot through the air as she performed he finale encore hit “So What” while flipping and flying around the venue. I can genuinely say that this tour was one of the most entertaining and breathtaking performances I have ever had the pleasure of attending.
