Moon, The Hurt Locker, and The Brothers Bloom are all out today to purchase and I can recommend all of them with ease.

Moon is in my top ten of 09, where on that list I will still keep secret till my 09 review come Oscar time, and features one of, if not the best male performance of the year in Sam Rockwell. It is sci-fi, there is only one actor on display, and Kevin Spacey plays a robot. Do not miss it.

The Hurt Locker is getting a lot of Oscar buzz and is right with Avatar and Up in the Air as the front runners for best picture this year and is gobbling up a lot of precursor awards. Jeremy Renner is fantastic in the lead, Ralph Fiennes is one of many great cameos, and the bomb scenes are crazy. Not a lot of people have seen this and you should do yourself a favor and check it out. On second viewing I would upgrade my rating to a B+ I think.

The Brother’s Bloom has been around a while, and I saw this movie almost a year and a half ago and now I am finally getting to pick it up after a really odd release window. It has been available to rent for a while now but this is one to own. The sophomore effort from Brick’s Rian Johnson is a great fun flick with a bunch of great performances from Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz, and Mark Ruffalo. Seek it out!

I’m going to try and keep this a regular column, so keep a look out for future home video picks for the week.
