  • On a volleyball road trip to Chicago I turned to look out the window while we were at a stop light. There was a cemetary right there and the grave stone in the very front was Gaylord Sweetwood. I immediately called attention to all of the guys in the van. Worst name ever

  • One time I accidentally mailed a sex tape to my ex-girlfriend while we were in college. So a few buddies and I traveled across the country to retrieve it before she could watch it. Needless to say hijinks ensued, friendships were formed, and Tom Green fed my snake while I was gone.

  • Close call...While in London I went to Harrod's Dept Store and a policeman stopped me from entering saying they had received a bomb threat. I left and later that day on the TV news, they showed video of the bomb squad removing a bomb they claimed was large enough to level the entire block...

  • THIS STORY BEGINS SOME THIRTY YEARS AGO IN MY YOUNGER YEARS AND MY FIRST TIME EVER ON A PLANE AND SO EXCITED TO BE ON A PLANE TRIP AND GOING TO CALIFORNIA WITH MY GIRLFRIENDS. IT STARTS OUT FINE WE WERE ON STAND BY AND GOT GOOD SEATS THEN WE ARE NOT ON THE PLANE VERY LONG AND AN ANNOUNCEMENT TELLS US WE NEED TO LAND RIGHT AWAY THE FUEL WAS LEAKING OUT AND WERE NOT GOING CONTINUE ON OUT TRIP SO WE HAD TO TAKE OUR SHOES OFF AND GET READY FOR A LANDING MAYBE HAVING TO SLIDE DOWN THE EMERGENCY SLIDE BUT WE MADE THE LANDING WALKED OUT NO SLIDING AND THEN TRY TO GET ON ANOTHER PLANE WHICH WERE THE LAST THREE SEATS AND THENGO ON TO CALIFORNIA. THANKS.

  • My wife and I were flying to Italy for a conference, and when we got the airport in Milan we learned that the airline had lost our luggage. There was a big group of other passengers that lost theirs, too, and we all had to line up and fill out a claim. We were stuck in line behind a very irate and very smelly Italian guy, who spent the whole time yelling loudly at no one in particular. I have no idea what he was saying, but whatever it was I'm sure he spoke for all of us.

  • Growing up, I played a lot of youth hockey which required travel and hotel stays. We would stay about 3 to a room most trips. On one of these trips, in the dead of night, I got up to go to the bathroom. I did my business and got up to flush the toilet, but as soon as I did, a huge alarm started blaring. In my half-asleep state, I thought I had flushed incorrectly and jiggled the handle hoping that would stop the noise. It took me at least 10 seconds to realize it was the fire alarm going off. The entire hotel was outside in the middle of the night, and my roommates wasted no time in telling the whole team that I had set off the fire alarm with my crap.

  • I missed my stop while traveling in the local train in Frankfurt Germany, only to be let out at the end of the rail line, it took me 6 hours to get back which was only a 10 minute trip from the airport.

  • My family and I went on a Walt Disney Florida trip in 2006. I will never forget it! We were walking through Epcot and noticed that the seagulls and other birds were literally attacking people for their ice cream cones, as if they were starving to death. Next thing I know, my Mom is yelling to get the bird off of her and it steals her ice cream away from her and decides to poop right on her head. HAHAHAH! It was a riot!

  • I have had some unique experiences when going to other destinations. Some strange. Some funny. Some you just don't want to remember after they are over. So, I will just talk about my favorite.
I went to France in high school. It was a magnificent place. All kinds of things to do. I will never forget their beds in the hotel. They were so small, my legs were dangling half way off! I loved the scenery and buildings. They were all so beautiful. I got to drink and have fun with my friends. I will never forget their pizza either. Their slices of pizza were as big as two of my heads put together! And they were like $1 a piece! Come on....here they would be at least $5. I wish everyone would get to experience something like that. It was absolutely amazing and I wish I could take my gf someday.

  • I used to have a travel job and flew all over the world and had lots of strange things happen, but my favorite story was not even mine. My boss was in Beijing and was asked if he liked duck. He was thinking about peking duck and said that he did.

At dinner that night, his first course was fried duck feet, standing upright on a bed of lettuce. Each course from that point served a little more of the duck until he finished with the bill (the duck's not his request for payment). So he warned me--be careful when you are asked that question.

I didn't have that problem in China, but in Japan I was asked if I liked chicken. I gave a nervous 'yes?' We ended up eating a lot of chicken breast pieces prepared in different ways--after the first round turned out to be chicken livers. Win some . . .
