The 1990 film may be Arnold Schwarzennegger’s best movie ever. The 2012 remake may be Colin Farrell’s worst film ever. Producers of the updated version were very clear from the beginning that they were distancing themselves from the original. I won’t give away any of the plot of the remake, in case any of you want to sit through 2 hours of pure hell.
The 2006 remake takes the 1979 thrillers premise for about 10 minutes and then goes straight to hell. The original starring Carol Kane as a babysitter, who is stalked by a madman, is terrifying and very realistic. The updated version lacks any originality, storytelling, and decent acting. To this day, the remake remains one of the top five worst movies I’ve ever seen.
