The Twilight Saga: New Moon Trailer

Well, here is the latest trailer for the second installment of The Twilight Saga: New Moon starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. I’m not a huge fan of the series and after watching this trailer I don’t think I will ever be won over. I read these books about a year ago after someone suggested them to me. I’m not a literature snob, but the books made me wince at how bad they were at times I know I was not the target audience that the books and films were aimed at, but sometimes bad writing is bad writing.  Though there is a market for this thing and I don’t want to degrade anyone’s choices. To each his own, I’m just not sure that the series deserves the praise it gets.

Studio Synopsis:

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, who are ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.

  • First let me introduce myself to the Review STL Crew as a female prospective to movies and books. My name is Tiffany and I am a married, 30 year old mother of one. The reason for my introduction to the site was my recent reading of a review for the new, New Moon trailer. I feel that it is my responsibility as the "target audience", as Blake put it, to give this trailer and book series a proper review. Unlike Blake, I am not coming into this with my mind already set on not liking the movie or books. I have read all of the books in the series also and loved everyone of them, but again I am part of the "target audience". But what I don't think you consider when watching the New Moon trailer is the potential this movie has for the guys. When you (guys) went to see Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, which ever you prefer, you left the move with your date, (Hopefully), all pumped and ready for more action. What did your date leave with? From what I see in this trailer and what I know from the book, you should leave this movie from the action, werewolves & vampires & motorcycles, and your date will be complete satisfied with the amazing love story that took place. Wouldn't you want to leave a movie with your date in that kind of mood? I know my husband would rather be around me after a movie like this. So, I'm not trying to criticizing Blake's reviewing capabilities I just think that the review should be done with an open mind. Since I apparently can't leave the reviewing of "girl" movies to the "boys" you will be hearing more from me I'm sure!

    • Thanks for the input. However, I think it is a bit presumptuous to say I didn't go into the books with an open mind. I read them because someone told me to, and I just didn't enjoy them. Kevin or any one of my other friends can tell you it wasn't because I hate romantic books/films, in fact I consider myself born romantic and love stories when done right are some of my favorite. I just didn't think Twilight was done well. I gave them a chance, honestly I did. I even read through all of them so I could get a overall view of it (sometimes things are better looking back as a whole). I had no one to sway my opinion other than two people I know who loved them (who both were women).

The film might well end up better than the book, but judging from the trailer it just doesn't look like something I will like. I will always go into a film with an open mind and give a review based on it's merits to the people it appeals to, but it would be foolish of me not to include what I think as well. The only reason I talk about the "target audience" is because there is a target demo these books and films aim for. I am not part of it. I don't mean it in a demeaning way, but they just aren't set to my tastes.

Also, I didn't read or watch the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter books because of the action. In LOTR's case I read because of the epic scope that Tolkien had in his stories. The amazing history he had in his world knocked me off my feet. Harry Potter I came to reluctantly. Finally after trashing it for so long I read them, and loved them. Why? Well, not because of the action, but because I thought that the characters were some of the best set to paper in years. J. K. Rowling had crafted such great characters and meticulously made a story line that kept me gripped. She did an amazing job of making something so small be so big later in the story many times. She may not be the best technical writer, but the woman knows how to write a great story.

Yup, just my two cents. Sorry. :)

  • I for one can't wait until the new movie comes out. The first one was great. It was a little different than the book but I loved the movie and the first book. The second book was good and looking forward to the movie. Finally a great saga for chicks!!!

  • I'm sure that you are non partial to the romantic films, and that is not at all what I was trying to presume. What I was trying to say is I've watched all these other movies, including Star Wars, and found out that I did like them so for the sake of the women in your life... Just give it a chance. I think Farrah summed up what I wanted to say in her last line, "Finally a great saga for chicks". No insult intended Blake, you do great reviews for other movies I am just partial to this saga!

  • No, I wasn't saying just to romantic film. I said I went into Twilight with an open mind. I was saying it was presumptuous to say I didn't. I read the books with a completely open mind. I did give it a chance, and I didn't like. I really wanted to. I love vampire stories, but I just didn't like it.

  • I don't know...I mean...the first movie wasn't that good....and I doubt the second will be any better...I liked the books alright...but the movies so far don't even come close to what I thought they would be...and the second book was by far the worst...so I'm expecting the second movie to be worse than the first. Here's hoping that the 3rd and 4th are as good movies as they were books

  • Sarah, not sure if this is true but I heard they are changing the story for the second movie so Edward is in it more. I agree, the second one is the least good. I can't imagine how they are going to pull off all the stuff that goes down in the fourth one!

  • Just wanted to put my two cents in...I personally didn't like the first movie, I won't read the books so I give ya credit there Blake, and all Vampire books and Movies should be compaired to the True Blood series! Love It Later!

  • Wow! Loved all your thought input into the books and movie from all. Just wanted to say I liked all the books, couldn't put them down, the movie was good but true to form not as good as the book. To sum it up it was good entertainment. Don't know who is in the "target audience" but they have me and Iam in my 60's.

  • I would just like to say i loved the first book and the movie i am so looking forward to the second movie to come out. when every one first started reading the books i thought they were crazy for going as nuts over them, then the movie came out. And of course i loved it. and then rite away i started reading the whole series. In my opinion they were the best books i have ever read. i am at the ending of the last book and i cant seem to get myself to read it, i dont want to ruin the movie when it comes out. But im sure eventually i will read it cause its killing me not knowing what happens. But great job stephanie. i give the series a 5 star.
