New trailers for “The Lone Ranger”, “Lords of Salem”, “Parker”, and “A Good Day to Die Hard”

I know I’m the comic book guy, but there is more to me than a love of everything comics.  I also love the cinema.  Here’s a batch of new trailers that really get me excited.

The Lone Ranger
Directed by Gore Verbinski
Starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp

It looks like Disney is trying to recapture the magic and success they had with the Pirates franchise.  Verbinski is reunited with Johnny Depp and Producer Jerry Bruckheimer to bring the return of The Lone Ranger.  Armie Hammer (The Social Network) plays John Reid, aka The Lone Ranger, and Johnny Depp is Tonto.  I really dig The Lone Ranger. Dynamite Entertainment did a great 24 issue run about the Ranger and Tonto.  I’m hoping Disney does something similar to the comic.  If they do, Disney might be able to capture lightning in a bottle.  The Lone Ranger will be released July 3, 2013.

The Lords of Salem
Written and Directed by Rob Zombie
Starring The Usual Rob Zombie Cast

After a three year absence from the silver screen, Rob Zombie returns with The Lords of Salem.  The trailer doesn’t give us much to go on, but the movie appears to be similar to House of a 1,000 Corpses.  From what I gathered, Lords tells the story of a 300 year old coven of witches returning to Salem, Massachusetts, where they unleash hell (so to speak).  I’m a big fan of Zombie’s movies, so I’ll be giving this a peak.  Lords of Salem doesn’t have a official release date as of this writing.  It will be out by the end of 2012.

Parker
Directed by Taylor Hackford
Starring Jason Statham, Jennifer Lopez, and Michael Chiklis

Then there is the return of the Parker character to the big screen.  Parker has been played by Mel Gibson in Payback and Lee Marvin in Point Blank.  Both of those movies were based on Donald Westlake’s first Parker novel entitled The Hunter.  This movie is based on the book Flashfire.  Parker is played by the action superstar, Jason Statham, a perfect fit for the Parker role.  The story is pretty simple.  Parker gets screwed on a job by his partner (Michael Chiklis) and gets his revenge with the help of Leslie (Jennifer Lopez).  Pretty straight forward, but it should be loads of fun.  Parker is set to be released January 25, 2013.

A Good Day to Die Hard
Directed by John Moore
Staring Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney

Very little has been released about the plot of the 5th installment of the Die Hard franchise.  What I do know is that Jai Courtney, who played Varro in Spartacus: Blood and Sand, is playing John McClane Jr who is a bit more of a strategist than his dad.  Other than that, I have no idea what is going to happen and I honestly don’t need to.  You put the the words DIE HARD in a title, and I’m there opening night.  A Good Day to Die Hard opens on February 14, 2013.  Gentleman, start begging your significant others now!

That’s about it.  A lot of fun stuff in the coming months.  Feel free to leave some feedback, your thoughts on the trailers, or what films you’re looking forward to in the coming months.
