10 Movies to Look Forward to in 2013

6. Man of Steel (June 14)

When the film was first announced, I thought, “Ho hum, yet another reboot.” After learning the movie is being made by Christopher Nolan (my favorite director), David S. Goyer (Dark Knight series writer), Zach Snyder (director of 300 and Watchmen), and topping it off with the soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer, I believe we’re going to have an impressive film here.

5. The Great Gatsby (May 10)

Baz Luhrmann is an interesting director; you either love his movies or you hate them. There isn’t much middle ground. I happen to be in the “love” camp, particularly for the movies Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, and Romeo + Juliet. The style of his films captivate me. I watched an early 3D trailer of The Great Gatsby, and visually it looked extraordinary. I am not a huge fan of the novel, so staying completely faithful to the original story isn’t that important to me.. If you watch Romeo + Juliet, you know Luhrmann takes creative spins on established classics, so be prepared if you are a Gatsby purist.
