Win FREE Passes to “CITY ISLAND‏” at the St. Louis Advance Screening

ReviewSTL invites you to enter to win passes to the St. Louis advance screening of “CITY ISLAND‏.”

Enter for your chance to win a pass good for two!

Synopsis:

Vince Rizzo is a lifelong resident of the tiny, tradition-steeped Bronx enclave of City Island. A family man who makes his living as a corrections officer, Vince longs to become an actor. Ashamed to admit his aspirations to his family, Vince would rather let his fiery wife Joyce believe his weekly poker games are a cover for an extramarital affair than admit he’s secretly taking acting classes in Manhattan. When Vince is asked to reveal his biggest secret in class, he inadvertently sets off a chaotic chain of events that turns his mundane suburban life upside down. Inspired by the exercise, he decides to bring his long-lost ex-con son Tony home to meet the family, and it soon becomes clear that everyone – including his college student daughter, teenaged son Vinnie, Jr., charismatic acting partner and drama coach – has something to hide. A perfect storm of deception, half truths and confusion makes Vince and his family members realize that the truth may not set them free, but it is easier to keep track of than all their well-intentioned white lies.

  • Hi, would love to see this movie it looks like a very good one to see thanks for the opportunity.

  • forgot to let you know the crazy thing my family has done I don't know if yoou think this was crazy but it was fun when my sister and brother-in-law would come into st louis from san diego we would all go to grants farm years ago they have the two samples of beer and of course several of my family wanted more than 2 samples so the ones that didn't drink went to get samples for the others and then after a while we would put on each others hat and shirts and jackets and disguise ourselves ton get more samples. needless to say we only did this when family came in from california so this was not a yearly activity. it was so much fun to see if they came back with a sample and we would laugh so hard

  • "City Island" may very well be a good movie. The storyline sounds interesting and I would surely like to see.

    Thank you,

  • Crazy - you name it, we've got it! :) I imagine I could name things each person has done, but I'll focus on my dad - he has the most amazing luck... (I'm a country kid, bear with the references) He didn't secure a load of logs on a logging truck when I was a kid, the *entire* load fell on him, he survived. He was on the road, swerved to avoid a runaway calf, went down a 300 foot embankment and laid there for 3 days with several broken bones, no food & water, he survived. Last year he had a hard time lighting the pilot light in his camper - it was a gas leak, and he blew up the entire trailer - he survived. (Though he did lose a little hair.)
That's just a small sample... crazy things he does, but with dumb luck pulling him through. :)

  • I used to live in the house that City Island, the movie, was filmed in. On 4th of July, we used to sit out by the beach and watch all the fireworks shows going on all over NYC, while friends cruised by in their boats and bombed us with giant sling shots and water balloons.

  • My family and I went to Hungary, where thre is a requirement to leave a tip to use restroom facilities. The attendants do not really look at how much money you put in the tip bowl, but mainly seem interested in insuring there is a clink of coins.

Having just arrived in Hungary, we lacked small change for the tip and substitued US nickels - (this amount was in keeping with tip expectations).

Stepping away from the facilities, we were witness to a frenzy of activity as one of the attendants retrieved the nickels from the bowl - closely scrutinzed them, then excitedly ran to one after another of his co-workers to share the find.

It was an extremely humorous sight, which we repeated when departing Hungary (this time also including a local currency tip).
