Warner Bros. Making Space Invaders Movie?

Stare at this long enough, and it will give you a seizure.

I am half convinced these days that Hollywood has a wall of any story ever made in any medium. When executives get lost for ideas, or don’t want to take a chance they go to this wall, close their eyes and throw a dart. That is the only way to explain why films like a Stretch Armstrong film, a Missile Command film, a Battleship film, and 800 reboots are happening. The latest in an ongoing list of stupidity is a Space Invaders film that Warner Bros. is planning.

WB is negotiating the rights to the famous video game from Taito, the original creators of the video game classic which they released in 1978. The game was released in the US by the video game company, Midway.  Designer of the game was Tomohiro Nishikado. Right now WB has plans to produce with Mark Gordon, Jason Blum, and Guymon Casady.

This is just another film added to the list of classic video games that have little to no story, that are being developed into new films at studios.

When is Hollywood going to learn that they need more than just a name to create a popular film? It seems like the companies throw away more cash than they make these days. There has to be some good original scripts out there.
