Upcoming St. Louis Local Theater; “Fiddler on the Roof” and “State Fair”

Theater Around Town

“Curtain’s Up Theater Company” is a community theater company that performs shows primarily in Madison County, Collinsville, and Edwardsville. This weekend they bring audiences another excellent show with Fiddler on the Roof showing September 2-5.   In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.  Evening performances September 2-5 are at 7:30 pm.  Matinee performances September 4 and 5 are at 2:00 pm.  Performances are at Dunham Hall Theater on the campus of SIUE.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students, and children under 5 are free.  For ticket information call (618) 670-8030.

“Stages St. Louis” has been providing St. Louis with professional productions since 1987.  Starting September 3, “Stages St. Louis” continues this fine history with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s State FairState Fair invites you to travel with the Frakes as they leave behind the routine of the family farm for three days of adventure at the annual Iowa State Fair.  Showing September 3 – October 3, State Fair shows Tuesday – Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and Sunday at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm.  The Robert G. Reim Theatre in the Kirkwood Community Center plays host for the entire run of the show.  For ticket information call (314) 821-2407.
