The HTC G2 Is Almost Here. Was the Android Phone Worth the Wait?

For early Android adopters who picked up HTC’s G1 almost two years ago, the wait for an upgrade is almost over. The G2 is set for a US release date of October 6, 2010.

The phone boasts some impressive upgrades; the G2 features a faster processor, larger screen, better camera, and much more memory. The new Android phone also features 4G connectivity.

The look of the phone is very similar to it’s predecessor, but the insides definitely had an overhaul. The processor in the G2 was upgraded to an 800MHz Snapdragon MSM7230, from the 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A in the G1. The screen is now 3.7″ – as opposed to the 3.2″ touchscreen on the G1. The camera went from 3.1MP to 5.0MP, and includes 720p HD recording capabilities. The G2 will come out of the box with 4GB of onboard storage, plus an 8GB memory card – expandable to 36GB! They kept the slide-out keyboard, which is great.

Overall, the phone looks like a winner. What do you think of the G2? Let us know in the comments below.
