Talented People: Jack Conte

One of the greatest things about the internet is the ability to find new talent in all kinds of places. Sure, most of what you find on YouTube is a desolate wasteland of narcissistic (and possibly socially and mentally disabled) bloggers and anime freaks. Although, don’t let your despair eat away at you, just when you’ve give up hope a light shines through the darkness. Ok, so maybe I was a bit heavy handed with the rhetoric there, but there is truth. I am here to be your guide through the internet. In this weekly segment we will focus on one talented performer. Performers will range from musical acts, painters, and even comedic acts. So, I proudly present to you out weekly ‘Talented People’ focus segment.

In this world of over glamorized musical artists that are produced, developed and then shelved after a short shelf life you don’t see a lot of true talent. Autotune and great use of studio equipment like Pro Tools make any one with perfect teeth and a D cup into a music star. Jack Conte is none of this, he is an average looking male who lives in San Fransisco, who just so happens to be extremely talented.  Conte is the pioneer of a new musical genre uniting unique video editing and music, the ‘VideoSong’. His new medium has only two rules:

1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

Conte has recently been experiencing more success thanks to the help of communities like Digg, which he has been featured on the front page multiple times. Conte is also part of the group Pomplamoose, which features Conte and his girlfriend Nataly Dawn.
