SDCC 2013: Bendis and Bagley return to the Ultimate Universe

You would think that after a massive flood and a civil war that broke the United States in half, the Ultimate Marvel universe would get a break.  That’s not the case.  What more could the creators throw at these characters?  How about Galactus (and we ain’t talking about the weird Ultimate “Cloud” version we saw a few years ago.)?!

Yesterday during the Ultimate Universe panel, it was revealed that Brain Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley (the record setting team that brought you Ultimate Spider-Man) would be reuniting to possibly destroy what they helped create. Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand will hit your local comic shop in November 2014.

Here’s Marvel’s official statement on the book.

“The Marvel Universe’s greatest nightmare has now become the Ultimate Comics Universe’s, as Galactus the World Eater comes crashing through the cosmos! The heroes of the Ultimate Comics Universe might assemble like never before as the fate of their very existence hangs in the balance. Superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis & Mark Bagley deliver their grandest Ultimate Comics event yet, forever changing the Ultimate Comics universe!”

There have been rumors about the canceling of the entire Ultimate line of books (Spider-Man, The X-Men, and The Ultimates). Could this be the beginning of the end? We will have to wait until November of next year to find out.
