New Music Tuesday

This week brings the release of “Survival Story” by Flobots.  Flobots are mostly known by their breakout single ‘Handlebars,” from their debut album “Fight of Tools.”  Putting aside the fact that the song was played ad nauseam by radio stations, I actually enjoyed its storytelling as well as its sarcasm.  I  did not, however, enjoy the sub par production on pretty much the whole first album.  Their new album is produced by Mario Caldato Jr. (Beastie Boys, Jack Johnson), except for two self produced tracks- “White Flag Warrior,” and “Infatuation,” so thanks Universal Republic, for shelling out the cash for proper production.

Here is a list of releases for March 16, 2010:

Angus & Julia Stone, ‘Down The Way’

Armored Saint, ‘La Raza’

Drive By Truckers, ‘The Big To-Do’

Ella Fitzgerald, ‘The Best of Twelve Nights in Hollywood’

Fates Warning, ‘Parallels’

Flobots, ‘Survival Story’

Reni Lane, ‘Ready’

Neon Trees, ‘Habits’

The Runaways,’The Mercury Albums Anthology’

The White Stripes, ‘Under Great White Northern Lights’ [Live]

Gin Wigmore, ‘Holy Smoke’
