New ‘The Men Who Stare at Goats’ Trailer

The more I see of this film, the more I want to see it. I can’t really decide which Clooney film I am more excited for this fall, Up in the Air or The Men Who Stare At Goats. My friend just clued me into the BBC documentary about the people this is based around. Watch it here. The video quality isn’t great, but the whole documentary will make you believe that there are just as many crazies in our government as there are on the street.

I’ve heard some mixed buzz about the film, but it hasn’t detered me from wanting to see the film. It is probably still in my top 5 or so for the next few months. Let’s hope they don’t let me down.

Synopsis:

Struggling reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) gets the scoop of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (George Clooney), who claims to be from a unit of psychic soldiers who have been reactivated for duty. Intrigued by Cassady’s assertions that they can walk through walls and kill goats with a glance, Wilton follows him on a dangerous, top-secret mission across Iraq to find the brigade’s founder, Bill Django (Jeff Bridges).

  • I am looking forward to this big time. Whether it's a winner or a loser I could watch that cast paint a house and be entertained. I also look forward to the two sequels, the prequel, and then the inevitable hollywood reboot in 5 years.

  • I loved the movie and loved the Small Faces song Itchy coo park. This song fit the movie perfectly. The Small Faces( a Face meant Top Mod in mod lingo)The Small Faces last tour wa were Europes version of the beatles and had massive hits there. These 60's Mod sensations released Itchy coo Park in the states and it went imediately to #16 on the American charts. They didnt tour the states to push song up the charts be cause they were in the studio working on a concept album Odgens Nut Gone Flake which hit#1 in europe. This psycadelic concept album was written in little boats while on Thames River. They came up with a boy trying to find other half of the moon. The album was in a round case shaped like Odgens English tobacco can!The Mods would carry their gear(hash) and diguise it from the bobbies(police),and it let other Mods know you were cool. They had a string of hits in Europe rivaling the beatles who had already toured the states and even with their millions they couldnt stop them from all their success.if they would of toured they would changed american music history.Imagine they were singing You Need loving(Led Zeppelins Whole Lotta love hit) in 60"s with Robert Plant in the audience as a fan!Jimmy Page asked the Small Faces Front man Steve Marriott who had a huge high Octane voice to Led Zeppelin. The Small Faces manager Don Arden (Sharon Osbornes father)was rumored to have gangster ties and told Page he might lose his fingers if he recruited his singer if he recruited his singer. The who's manager wanted them to dress Mod like them. The Small Faces broke up before the british invasion to the states.they did come over in different bands Humble Pie and the Faces. When the little singer with hugh pipes9considered the best blue eved singer in the world)joined Humble Pie Rod Stewart and Ronnie wood now of the rolling stones joined the other three Small faces.Rod and Ronnie were to tall so they dropped the Small. The Small faces last tour was down under billed with The Who and caused such a culture shock among the youth that after the two week tour that both bands were banned in Australia and sent to New Zealand for rest of tour!A book called Furope was about that night mare tour where bands was guarded by military at their hotel rooms between concerts. The song Itchy Coo Park was the imaginary name for any park the mods wanted to get stoned(nice ,Mod ligo for stoned)at.It was rumored the Small Faces visited often there to Itchy Coo Park Europes San Francisco"s Summer of love, psychadelic, flower Power,Timothy Leary(Lsd Preacher),Grateful DeaD and Hippies. The Mods and Rockers and Carnaby Street(mod fashions were already happening in early sixties before summer of love.In fact Jimmy Hendricks even though he was from the states made his mark in Europe and experienced the Carnaby street and Mod scene and liked the Small Faces. The song from the Byrds 8 Miles High was about their tour to Britain and the whole Carnaby st. Mod thing and espeially the rage of the people over this group(Eight miles high strange places and Small Faces abound! The director was very intelligent because he caught the culture change on both sides of the atlantic and the music and culture change and the drugs that open minds.yes the days of Bonaza, crew cuts black cars and plain clothes were over in America.Jeff Bridges,Geore Clooney, kevin Spacey were really great! The movie creative.classic1
