New IRON MAN 2 Footage Receives Standing Ovation at Comic-Con 09

Saturday at Comic-Con, Jon Favreau (director of IRON MAN) showed some footage from the upcoming comic book film, IRON MAN 2. According to Variety, Favreau started off showing some pretty crappy footage, which still managed to get the audience pumped, until Robert Downey Jr. came out on stage yelling “This is bullshit!” The real footage played, and could hardly be heard under the overwhelming applause and cheers. Here is what they saw:

  • Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
  • Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer
  • Don Cheadle as War Machine
  • Mickey Rourke as Whiplash
  • Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow
  •

Favreau said that the reason for adding so many new characters in the film was that he “wanted to maintain the tone and dynamic between the characters that you love.”

The writer and artist for the “Iron Man” comic series, Bob Layton, even made an appearance at the end of the presentation. He gave the audience even more confidence, as if any was needed, that Iron Man 2 will “knock your socks off.”
