M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” Trailer

I have never seen the original show, and partly that is due to the overexposing of anime as a whole. There is only so much of it I can watch before I go back to my Western ideals.  It also doesn’t help that it seems I am a bit out of the targeted age group for the original series. The film does look intriguing. I’m always down for a cool kung fu/super powers story. The kid in me thinks that this is going to be a good time. The adult in me worries that M. Night Shyamalan is going to try and lose some of the fun escapism, and instead opt for a deep twist. Luckily, since it is an established product I am sure the studios have him in line, mainly so they can produce sequels later.

Synopsis:

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

Director: M. Night Shyamalan
