Full Original Cast Confirmed For “Hangover 2”

2009 was a year where there were lots of breakout hits. Avatar exceeded expectations at the box office, and so did Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side. Not many people were expecting the R-Rated comedy The Hangover to take off. That is until early screenings revealed audiences loved it. The test screenings were so popular that the studio greenlit a sequel before the film even hit its release date. Their gamble seemed worth it when The Hangover took in $467 million dollars worldwide, and to top it off on a budget of $34 million.

There was a little hesitation by some of the cast to come back for a sequel, but they are now all aboard. The lead three actors, Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, and Zach Galafiankis, will all be taking home a $5 million payday for their roles in the sequel, in stark contrast to the $1 million they were paid for the first film.  I haven’t heard if Justin Bartha will be back, but I would expect for him to be joining the cast as well.

Rumors have been flying around the web for months that the sequel will be shot in Thailand, and will once again feature the cast getting into comedic situations to retrace their steps on a drunken night. However, director Todd Phillips has yet to expound on any details that are out currently. We’ll most likely know more when the sequel starts filming in July.

I don’t mean to brag (yes I do actually),  but I called the success of The Hangover from the beginning based on the trailer and the cast. I’ve been calling for Galafianakis to break out in a big way for years.  Now the film has propelled the careers of its three stars to much higher levels than I might have expected. Cooper is now set to be a leading man in Hollywood. No doubt the cast is what sold this film.

Are you excited for a sequel? Let us know in the comments!

  • The Hangover was the most overrated movie of 2009. I saw it in theaters and on DVD thinking i missed something the first time but after watching it the second time i realized it just wasn't funny. i know people swear that its hilarious but i truly did not find it entertaining.
