FOR COLORED GIRLS‏ Opens November 5! Enter to Win Passes to the St. Louis Advance Screening!

FOR COLORED GIRLS‏ OPENS November 5 NATIONWIDE.

Enter for your chance to win a pass, good for two!

Synopsis:

In 1974, Ntozake Shange’s choreopoem “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf” made its stage debut, combining poetry, dance and music, and most significantly, placing the black female experience center stage. In lyrical, honest, angry, funny and tender language, Shange’s “colored girls” evoked the feelings woven into the fabric of black female life in America. Within two years, the play became a Broadway sensation, won an Obie and Tony Award, and would eventually be produced in regional theaters throughout the country. Now, thirty six years later, filmmaker Tyler Perry adapts this landmark work for the big screen, integrating the vivid language of Shange’s poems into a contemporary narrative that explores what it means to be a woman of color – and a woman of any color – in this world.

  • I would love to attend the prescreening event of For Colored Girls for it depicts the stories of triumph over struggle, courage over fear, hope over despair- the range of life events many women of color, and women in general must overcome to arrive at a place of peace in their lives. My hope in the movie is not just to be entertained but to expand my reach in life to learn of the gift of taking risks and learning to leap instead of just walking when opportunity for betterment is presented to me. As Pablo Picasso's Weeping Woman canvas depicts the betrayal and agony of life with vibrant colors, I imagine the movie For Colored Girls will correlate similar life events to celebrate the colorful beauty in life in between the dark cold bold strokes of personal pain endured.

  • I would love to see the movie colored girls, I love Tyler Perry every movie he makes is almost better than the next.Janet Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg, what a cast. thanks pleas e ent er me . nancyg49@juno.com

  • It will be something to see why women of any color are treated differently. It seems that being a woman is a minus already and then top it with color made it even worse. There's no rhyme or reason to such logic. This movie will somehow bring justice to us and must be seen.

  • I love all the Tyler Perry movies. I see every one that comes out so it is hard to choose. The first one I saw was Diary of a Mad Black Woman and from then on I was hooked. This movie spoke so much about the things we all go through, self-imposed and imposed upon us by others, but had such a message of hope and triumph. This movie (as well as all of his others) address spiritual hope in a way that touches people without being threatening. I read his book Madea as well. He is just great!!

  • I would love to see movie Colored Girls as Tyler Perry movies are so funny and interesting how many types of girls are treated different.
