“Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” absolutely blew me away. This was largely due to Captain Jack Sparrow being a character that you could just sit and watch him do anything, and you would be entertained the entire time. I never thought that something like that could come out of a Disney theme park ride.
So now, in my look back at a phenomenal movie and a look forward to perhaps a better entry into the series, I give you some things you may have not been aware of in the first film in this series.

I had barely even heard of Mr. Depp before I saw the first Pirates and now I am infatuated with him and after 7 years my admiration and appreciation of this man has not dimensioned one iota.
I have been a Depp fan for many years. He first caught my eye in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Something in those brown eyes caught my attention. He was such a cutie. Still looks awesome at 47. I think the worst film I saw him in was Private Resort. It was really cheesy. It is also the only movie Johnny has done (so far) with a nude scene. He has really come along way and is an awesome actor today.
I first saw POTC with friends who recommended this great movie I had paid no attention to. I knew it had Johnny Depp and thought it should be fun...I had seen other movies of his and always thought him immensely talented. Well, after POTC, I was hooked. I think the series made millions for a reason. They were good movies, but without JD they would not have been noticed by anyone. He is magical on the screen and disappears into every character...He is greatly underrated by the critics, but his fans love him..great actor and great person who cares about his fans!!!
