Country Star Willie Nelson Arrested For Pot Possession in Texas

I don't think I'd ever be able to tell he was a stoner if someone hadn't told me. /sarcasm

I know what you are all thinking, Willie Nelson arrested for possession of marijuana? I know, it sounds far fetched, but it true. The 77 year old country star was arrested at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, east of El Paso. The singer was found in possession of six ounces of marijuana.  The singer was on his way to Austin to head to his ranch.

“He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I’m going to make him cook and clean,” Hudspeth County sheriff Arvin West said. “He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do.”

Nelson has already posted bond and has been released.

I really think this is hilarious. Nelson has let himself become an icon about marijuana usage over the decades, and I don’t think anyone would be surprised that he had stuff on him. If this conviction sticks I’ll be amazed. Although, I do think this is a prime example of a stupid sentence for something that is pretty harmless.  This 77 year old man really isn’t hurting anyone, but could end up spending a lot of time in jail because of it.
