Call Barney Stinson Superbowl Ad 1-877-987-6401

I’m sure you saw the ad featuring Neil Patrick Harris as his womanizing How I Met Your Mother character, Barney Stinson telling you to call 1-877-987-6401. Did you get through? I did, and here is what it said:

That, Lebron, is how you shoot a free throw. Hey, Barney Stinson speaking. A recording? No, this is really me! Anyway, glad you called ’cause you sound really special. Let’s get to know each other. What are your hobbies? Oh my god, I like that too! Wow, I’m really feeling a connection here. You know, I never do this but what the heck. Let’s meet up at MacLaren’s Bar at oh, say, 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2016. I can’t wait to meet you. I love you.

I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the narrative of How I Met Your Mother, and if it will be refrenced at all within the show. Needless to say, it was pretty entertaining, and it drummed up a bit of publicity for one of my favorite shows on network TV.

UPDATE: Apparently this is going to tie into tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother.

Suit up folks!

Also, Step one lose the mustache it doesn’t match your suit.  You aren’t wearing one? Step Two buy a suit.

  • I couldn't get through, but I was so excited to see a great promo like that for How I met Your Mother. It's one of my favorite shows too! I was disappointed in most of the ads they showed yesterday, but Barney was by far the best!

  • On HIMYM tonight they started by watching the Super Bowl and seeing Barney on the ad. Only, the phone number was actually different! A 555, of course, so you couldn't call. But that's all pretty clever in my book.
