Antje Traue May Join Michael Shannon As A Villain In MAN OF STEEL

Some people are nervous about MAN OF STEEL.  I would assume that most of this hesitation is due to critics of Zak Snyder saying that he is all style and no substance.  One can bolster this claim with the recent SUCKER PUNCH.  I, on the other hand, am definitely interested in the project, and I’m not even a big Superman fan.  My interest is due to the script by Nolan and Goyer, Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon being the leads, and Snyder’s visual style.  Now the film is getting ready to add another key piece to the puzzle.

Antje Traue has mostly done German films, but she did star in the 2009 sci-fi, thriller PANDORUM.  Now, it looks like her name may be a little more well known.  DEADLINE reports that she is the frontsunner, while VARIETY reports that the actress has nabbed the role of General Zod’s right hand woman.

Some may be surprised that Traue was cast in this role while other more high profile names have been tossed around like Alice Eve, Diane Kruger, and Rosamund Pike, but I like the idea of an unrecognizable actress fighting alongside Michael Shannon who is certainly not the most conventional choice to play the lead villain in a big budget flick.
