Spielberg to Adapt Stephen King’s Under the Dome

Spielberg has optioned the recently released novel for a hopeful tv series event sometime on cable down the line.  The plot goes like this:

The plot, “revolves around the drama that unfolds after an invisible force field suddenly descends on a small vacation town in Maine. As the locals fight for their survival, the town descends into warring factions led by enigmatic characters.”

Kind of sounds like The Mist on a larger scale, no?  Anyways, these two can both be masters at their craft and the thought of them two coming together is genuinely exciting and intriguing.  There are no writers on the project yet, but they hope to get this off the ground in a hurry it sounds like and maybe we will see it in the next year or two.

Keep an eye out for more here, or at Variety.
