Mike White Directing “Pride And Prejudice And Zombies”

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has seen its fair share of turmoil, and it is still only in the pre-production stage. The first bump in the production was when director David O. Russell left the production, and shortly thereafter its star Natalie Portman left as well. Not such a good sign when two A-list talents leave your production.

Luckily, Lionsgate has landed themselves a striking talent with Mike White. Most people might recognize White from his roles in School of Rock (which he wrote), his apperances on Freaks and Geeks (which he wrote a few episodes of), and his participation in one of the seasons of the reality show, The Amazing Race.

Now the next step is the casting of the talent, especially the lead character, Elizabeth Bennett, who Portman was originally slated to play. Rumor has it that Scarlett Johansson is said to be considering the role, but I’d take it with a grain of salt until the deal is actually inked.

White has great writing talent, but doesn’t have a lot of experience in the director’s chair. Although, he’s tried his hand in so many things that I can see him being successful in just about anything he tries his hand at.
