Bossypants is an entertaining book about Tina Fey’s life and the experiences that made her into the  woman she is today. Fey is a writer, actress, and comedian. In this book, she talks about her time as a  writer for Saturday Night Live and her transformation into the head writer and lead actress for NBC’s 30 Rock. She has also starred in Mean Girls, Baby Mama, and Date Night.

If there was ever a book for a woman who wants to laugh and relate to, it is this book. The first few chapters are about puberty and a female’s menstrual cycle. However, it is not written in a way to embarrass or make a person uncomfortable. It is entertaining and hilarious. So, men will probably enjoy it also.  In “The Secrets of Mommy’s Beauty”, Fey tells us all about her beauty secrets, which range from the right undergarments to “space lasers” to the perfect hair cut.

For the males out there, this book will give them an inside view of what it is like to be a woman. In the chapter “All Girls Must Be Everything”, Fey makes a list of all the things that a woman might try to “fix” at one time or another; such as, “big pores…lunch lady arms…breasts too small…muffin tops” and much more.  Now, you know.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book. I laughed almost the entire time. I was having such a great time reading that I stayed up until 2am, twice, and did not even realize it. You know you are reading an amazing book if you get so immersed into it that you are almost falling asleep, but don’t want to stop. It was interesting to read about Fey’s time in Chicago at the Second City theater and her tips on how to make it on Saturday Night Live.

Bossypants has everything to make it a fabulous book; drama, comedy, and tears.  Each chapter is extremely entertaining. Realistically, I could go on and on about this book and all of the things that make it great. But, instead, just go read it. You will love every second of it. I promise.

Bossypants gets an A+!
