7 Upcoming Games That You Should Buy in 2013

So 2013 is almost over. Seriously, this has been an awesome year for gamers, with great games like Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, and Tomb Raider. And to top it all off we had an awesome E3 full of exciting new IPs and new consoles.

We could pretty much be content with this year if it ended now, but no, we still have a lot to look forward to. Below I’ve listed 7 games that you should definitely check out before the ball drops in December.

7. Saints Row 4

Saints Row 4

This game is special. Yes, that kind of special. I mean seriously, where else can you run around an open world as the President of The United States, naked mind you, laying destruction and mayhem with your super powers while saving the human race from the ‘Matrix inspired’ world with your dubstep gun?

6. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag

Yarrr! So for the first time ever the AC franchise takes a different approach. I know we were all hoping that Ubisoft would take a hint and make an AC in feudal Japan, but we’ll just have to settle for pirates. Open world, minimal loading screens, and a staggering amount of content awaits gamers in Ubisoft’s newest installment. Let’s just hope there are less bugs. Also, there are sharks. Let’s hope you can punch them. Or maybe the sharks will have bugs and we can’t punch them and we’ll all die horrible, horrible deaths.

5. PAYDAY 2

Payday 2

This is the one you’ve probably never heard of. That’s okay, we forgive you. What is PAYDAY 2, you ask? Well it’s a co-op based game where you and a bunch of buddies take on bank heists in ever increasing difficulty fashion. Imagine Counter Strike, mixed with L4D2, mixed with the movie Heist. Bam! Now tell me that doesn’t sound bloody amazing?

4. Batman Arkham Origins

Batman Arkham Origins

So it’s Batman. Do I really need to say more? This is being developed by Warner Brothers Montreal. This studio was responsible for the Arkham City Wii U conversion, so they know what they’re doing. They’re taking the best of what Rocksteady did and then they’re expanding on it with the best intentions. Plus, it’s Batman. Come on.

3. Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4

Why BF4 instead of Call of Duty on this list? Because the Battlefield series has done more to innovate the modern combat genre than CoD in recent years. With its massive maps, vehicles and destructible environments, I urge every CoD player to truly give BF4 a shot. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Did you see that Skyscraper fall in the E3 demo? What!? Nonsense, I tell you. Nonsense.

2. Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs

PRISM! NSA! Oh god, am I flagged now? Smart cities, smart grids, super smart phones; these are the everyday realities of the fictional (or is it!?) world of Watch Dogs. This is one game I’m truly looking forward to. The gameplay truly looks unique and interesting. Control a city with your hacker-cracker skills and dish out your own form of vigilante justice in an open-world digitized version of a not-so-far future version of Chicago.

1. Grand Theft Auto V

GTA5

At the top of this list (or is it the bottom?), the game we’ve all been waiting for. Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has seriously caffeinated the hype train on this game. They’ve taken things past 10, past 11, and smacked the volume knob to 12 before dancing around naked while being high on Booty Sweat™. Why move to L.A. when you can live the lives of three different productive members of society? With crazy content, crazy violence, and Rockstar’s charm, you can be rest assured this will be an awesome ride.
